Company Profile

Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley Inc

Company Overview

Habitat is a nondenominational Christian organization which builds homes with low-income people in need of adequate, affordable housing.

Families are selected for the program based on need of adequate, affordable housing. Families are selected for the program based on need; their present housing must be inadequate (unsafe, too small, too expensive for income), and they must be ineligible for regular bank financing. The family’s annual gross income must fall within 30% to 60% of the area median income, depending on the family’s size. Each family must contribute 500 hours of volunteer labor to home construction and other Habitat activities, as well as make a $500 down payment. Habitat then sells the home to the family at cost, holding a 20-30 year mortgage with no interest.
