Description
Job Connection, Inc. is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as its next Executive Director. This is an opportunity to lead an established nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people with barriers to employment and community living with opportunities to work, live, and participate more fully in their communities.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides overall leadership for Job Connection’s programs, people, finances, operations, and community relationships. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board to establish organizational priorities, ensure the delivery of high-quality services, maintain strong relationships with government and community partners, and position the organization for continued success.
What You’ll Do
As Executive Director, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for Job Connection and its programs and services.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to establish priorities, implement strategic initiatives, and support effective governance.
- Oversee organizational finances, budgets, contracts, funding relationships, compliance, and administrative operations.
- Lead and develop managers and staff while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and mission-focused workplace.
- Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, employers, community partners, referral and funding sources, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor state and federal legislative, regulatory, budget, and public-policy developments affecting Job Connection and the individuals it serves.
- Build relationships with legislators, government officials, agencies, provider associations, and advocacy partners.
- Represent Job Connection in legislative and public-policy discussions, including attending hearings and meetings and preparing testimony or other policy communications when appropriate.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Job Connection and strengthen partnerships that support employment opportunities, community inclusion, and quality services.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in Billings, Montana, with local and statewide travel and occasional meetings or events outside normal business hours.
Compensation: $120,000–$140,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Requirements
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be a thoughtful and collaborative leader who can balance mission, people, operations, and external relationships. Qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business or public administration, human services, rehabilitation, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and progressively responsible experience.
- Progressively responsible leadership and management experience, preferably in a nonprofit, human-services, disability-services, vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, or related environment.
- Experience with organizational leadership, financial oversight, Board relations, government or contract-funded services, and employee supervision.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work effectively with employees, Board members, government officials, employers, community partners, individuals receiving services, families, and advocates.
- Experience with government agencies, legislative processes, public funding, policymakers, or advocacy is strongly preferred.
- A commitment to person-centered services, employment opportunities, community inclusion, and respect for individuals with disabilities.
